John Fitzgerald Kennedy, 1917-1963.  35th President of the United States, 1961-1963.  Typed Letter Signed, John Kennedy, one page, 6¾" x 8¾", on stationery of the Congress of the United States, House of Representatives, Washington, [no date].

Kennedy, back from his post-election vacation in Europe, thanks a supporter for help in the election that moved him to the United States Senate.  He writes, in part:  “I am certain that we never would have survived the Eisenhower landslide if it had not been for the effectiveness of our organization, an organization, in my opinion, which was the best that the state had ever seen.  /  I fully realize that this victory was won by the people such as yourself who carried out the many arduous but necessary tasks which constitute political success, and I want you to know how grateful I am to you for all your assistance."

This is one of a number similar letters that Kennedy mailed to supporters following the election.  Some, like this one, were undated and lacked a formal inside address.

Kennedy has signed this letter in green ink.  The letter has normal mailing folds and tape stains at the top and bottom margins that do not affect the text and could easily be matted out if the piece were framed.  Because of the tape stains, we can describe it only as being in fine condition.  Otherwise it would be very fine.

Unframed.
